Personally I think the computer is a wonderful tool. If I have a computer, I can do away with other things. For example I can do away with my TV, because I can always watch TV online, or fit my computer with a TV card and watch TV on it. I can do away with my radio, because I can use the computer to listen to a myriad of online radio stations. I can do away with a lot of things – the idea is that the computer is a powerful tool.

You can put the computer to good use – and what better use is there than educating your little one? This is where an educational software application called Animated Words comes in.

This program is meant for children from pre-school through first grade. Here is what the application does: it presents the child with a word, say the word “thumb”. Underneath the word it presents various pictures – one of those pictures is a picture of a thumb. The child has to correctly match the word with the corresponding image. To keep things interesting for the little one, each time he gets it right, pieces are added to a puzzle. The goal here is to get 5 correct matches – this is when the puzzle becomes animated.
